Great Quality, Slight Finish Variation

The board is solid, thick, and clearly made with care. I love the feel of it while chopping. That said, mine had a slightly darker tone than the photo on the site. Still beautiful, just not exactly what I imagined. Overall, still very happy with the purchase.

Gave It as a Gift and Then Bought One for Myself

I ordered the walnut version as a wedding gift and when it arrived, I was honestly jealous. The craftsmanship was amazing and it felt like something you’d get at a fancy kitchen store. I ended up ordering one for myself a week later. It’s heavy, durable, and beautiful. I cook a lot, and this has easily become my favorite kitchen tool.

Beautiful and Functional

This board checks every box. It’s thick, doesn’t slide, looks high-end, and actually makes prep work more enjoyable. I’ve had guests compliment it while I’m cooking — that’s how nice it looks. I also really appreciate the non-slip feet and handles. I didn’t think I’d use them much but they make carrying it around super easy.

Exactly What I Was Looking For

I spent a few days debating which board to get, and I’m so glad I ended up going with this one. The thickness and weight make it feel so stable while I’m chopping, and the wood grain is absolutely beautiful in person. I added the juice groove and it’s come in handy more often than I thought. This feels like a piece I’ll have for years, not something that’ll end up in the trash after a year.

Frequently Asked
Questions

How do I clean and maintain my board?

It’s easier than you think. After each use, just wipe it clean with warm soapy water and dry immediately. Once every week or two (depending on usage), rub it with food-grade mineral oil or board butter to keep the wood hydrated and looking beautiful. That’s it. No dishwashers, no soaking. With minimal effort, your board will last for decades

What makes your board better than bamboo or plastic ones I can buy for cheaper?

Quality, safety, performance, and longevity. Bamboo boards are often made from strips glued together using formaldehyde-based adhesives — they’re hard, brittle, and prone to cracking. Plastic boards wear down quickly, trap bacteria, and leach microplastics into your food.  You’ll replace a cheap board every year — or just buy one good one now.

What if I’m not happy with the board after I use it?

Try it for 100 meals — seriously. We offer our exclusive 100 Meal Guarantee: use the board for up to 100 meals, and if you’re not absolutely in love with it, we’ll take it back and give you a full refund. No stress. No hassle. We believe so strongly in the quality of our boards that we take all the risk off your plate — and let you chop, slice, and sear worry-free.

Won’t a wood cutting board absorb bacteria and be unsafe?

Absolutely not. In fact, hardwood cutting boards (like ours) are safer than plastic when it comes to bacteria. Why? Wood is naturally antimicrobial. Studies like this one show that bacteria like E. coli and salmonella actually die off faster on wood than they do on plastic. Plastic boards trap bacteria in knife grooves and can be hard to sanitize, especially when they wear down. Our solid hardwood surface fights bacteria naturally — no harsh chemicals required.

Do the boards come pre-oiled and ready to use?

Yes — every board arrives fully finished, oiled, and waxed by hand, ready to go right out of the box. At Starner Wood Co., we apply multiple coats of food-grade mineral oil followed by our signature board butter (a mix of mineral oil and natural beeswax) to deeply hydrate and seal the wood. This creates a protective barrier that resists moisture, enhances the natural grain, and gives your board a soft, rich sheen.

Will a wood cutting board dull my knives faster than plastic?

Nope — the opposite is true. Our Pro Series boards are made from properly cured American hardwoods that are gentle on knife edges. They provide just the right amount of resistance without chipping or rolling your blade. Plastic boards, on the other hand, can actually cause more friction and wear on knives — especially as they develop deep gouges and warp.

All the features you need, none you don't.

Made from premium American hardwood, our boards are built to last a lifetime of meals. At 1.5 inches thick, they’re durable without being bulky. Non-slip feet keep things steady, and built-in handles make carrying easy — from prep to presentation. Prefer a juice groove? Add one for mess-free carving and cutting.
